What do we mean by ‘Ergonomics in our Community’looking beyond the workstation Jonathan Tyson, MASc, CPE

Building on the presentation given at the 2016 ACE Atlantic Conference / Meeting, this webinar will ask participants to consider what we mean by ‘Ergonomics in our Community’. Moving beyond the stated theme of the 2016 Conference, the presentation, and now this webinar will speak to our vision of ergonomics and ergonomists and ask if and how we bring our knowledge, skills, and view point(s) to work in and for the betterment of the larger communities within which we live and work.


Jonathan Tyson is a Relationship Manager with the Health & Social Services Large Workplace Service Team at the Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia.

Jonathan has worked as a private consultant, for Michelin Tires, with Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, and with various Ontario based health & safety associations. He led the development of Ontario’s current Musculoskeletal Disorders Prevention Guidelines., and is currently helping to manage the development of a five year health and safety action plan for Nova Scotia’s Health Care and Community Services Sectors.

Jonathan studied Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo and received a Master of Applied Science in Industrial Engineering degree from the Technical University of Nova Scotia. He is a past president of the Association of Canadian Ergonomists and the Ontario Region of ACE, and served as Treasurer for the Atlantic Region of ACE.

He is happiest when helping to create happy & healthy communities, spending time with his beautiful wife, and when rowing on the North West Arm of Halifax.
