Transitional Member is a subcategory of class B non-voting members. For eligible ACE student members, in good standing, who have completed a certificate, diploma, undergraduate or graduate level degree, in an ergonomics/human factors or a related program. For the first membership renewal period immediately following graduation.

Individuals who are studying some aspect of human factors/ ergonomics (full time or part time), are eligible to become student members of ACE (Endorsement is required by a member of the faculty of the institution).
Students receive all the benefits of Members with the exception of listing in the Consultant Directory, and eligibility to vote and hold National Council positions. However, students are eligible for student awards:

Undergraduate and graduate student members are eligible for awards (Conference Site/Student Awards) held in conjunction with the annual conference.

A retired Member is an individual Member of the Association who has been in good standing for ten years or more preceding application, is retired, and does not derive significant income from employment. Retired individuals can request a Retired Member application from the National Office. The application requires the individual’s signature and oath that they meet the definition of a retired Member.

Members receive a discounted rate at the ACE Annual Conference, usually in the range of $100.00 off of nonmember rates.
Students are eligible for a substantially reduced rate at the annual conference subsidized by ACE.
